1:18 HOLDEN EH UTILITY CALTEX

The Caltex brand name started to be used in Australia in the 1940s. Caltex and Ampol opened refineries in the 1950s and competed in the service station and oil product industry. In 1981 Caltex acquired Golden Fleece, expanding their operations and in 1995 Caltex and rival Ampol combined to become the largest refiner-marketer in Australia and eventually rebranded as Caltex Australia in 1997. Until 2015, Caltex Australia was owned 50% by Chevron, and 50% by Australian shareholders. In 2015, Chevron sold its stake in Caltex Australia, but allowing Caltex Australia to continue using the Caltex brand. In December 2019, Caltex announced that Chevron had given notice to terminate the licence agreement for the use of the Caltex brand in Australia. Caltex Australia was renamed Ampol Limited during their AGM in May 2020 and began rebranding across Australia as Ampol in June 2020.
